Question self. Hey all, super quick background. I am an amateur athlete competing at a national level in extreme sports motorcycle racing, watercraft racing, etc and would like to stream from a GoPro Hero 7 Black edition to Twitch. I believe Youtube and Twitch make this fairly easy, please correct me if I'm wrong. Does anyone know how this would be feasible? What kind of equipment would I need to make this possible? I greatly appreciate anyone's advice, I think it'd be extremely cool to bring my racing to a new audience!
You ever use Restream? It is a service that allows you to split your stream to different services, but that's not the only way you can utilize it.
Restream has you stream to a rtmp server that you can pull from using a network stream tool like the one in VLC. Then take the rtmp url and use that as the network url for a network stream in VLC. Now capture VLC with obs display capture works best. Not the best explanation, but you can either use Restream or make your own rtmp server.
Well son of a gun, didn't even think to uncheck local file on media source. Yeah that works too lol, thanks for letting me know. Yeah I just use my phone with the streamlabs app nowadays when I do my metal detecting streams. I'll combine it with OBS when I am on a single access point on wifi. You'll lose connection for a split second if you switch access points and that can cause the failure. I'll give your channel a look, always enjoy checking out other streamer's IRL setups.

Although these cameras were not primarily designed for use in regular photography, GoPro cameras can record everything happening around us ranging from capturing zoo images to shooting bike ride footages and more. You can practically do anything with these cameras. One of the commonly asked questions is whether it is or it is not possible to use a GoPro camera as a webcam. The procedure works whether you use Windows or Mac.
Being able to use your versatile drone camera on your computer implies enhanced usage of your investment. Apart from allowing you to film in FHD, you also enjoy other advanced features that come along with this camera.
Such features include the broad angle lens, improved pixel count and better color clarity. All these are not practical with most ordinary webcams. When properly set, you can enjoy even greater professional quality recording and appearance.
Additionally, if you are a serious computer gamer and want to stream Internet games, then the device can help transform your gaming skills. For you to repurpose your GoPro and use it as a webcam, you need to ensure that the device is in tip-top condition. It should be capable of recording in different environments. Here, we can use Hero5 Black. This is because the model allows you to use the ultra and super-wide settings to augment your recordings.
The same procedure works pretty well for Hero4 and Hero6 cameras. Models lower than Hero4 and Hero5 often experience drop in frame rate per second and may not deliver a high-quality resolution. The cable allows you to connect the camera to a connector. This is because both devices have connectors of different sizes. Before delving into the steps, it is better to understand why you need to follow this method.
This will help to keep your GoPro camera at the ideal height. Better stability also translates to steady recording and if you need to use it for extreme filming, then you can get a protective cover for your camera. The aluminum case helps to secure your camera. The most notable advantage is the clarity of your recordings. The other benefit is the more organized working area.
All the power cables and connections should not appear cluttered. Although there are many methods to follow, this is the easiest of all. In fact, some other methods may not require certain components used here but the best thing is to be sure not to complicate the process. Others may even prompt you to download additional software like OBS which allows free streaming.
These can include things like Skype or more.
Your computer detects and enables you to enjoy GoPro benefits with the use of webcam settings. This will depend on the age and type of computer you use. But before that, you can first do some testing by overturning your webcam to see what will be recorded. Here, you can change anything undesirable like leftover dinner or other stuff. You can also repoint your camera, alter the focus or do more to customize your recordings.

If anybody knows, that would be great! By the way, the Hero 8 connects via a RTMP server, which is fine if connecting to Youtube or twitch, but I'd like to have it go through obs.

I may have figured out a solution.
I don't know if this will work because I haven't bought one yet, but in theory, this should solve it. MagicMIles New Member. While watching this video on youtube MobCam New Member. Pretty easy, although now I have no clue how to be connected on internet at the same time as my Mac is already connected to the GoPro.
Anyone has an idea? Involver New Member. I'm happy to pay that if it takes care of the problem but has anyone actually made it work? The rest is pretty simple. MagicMIles said:.
How to streaming wireless Go pro hero 7 with VLC or OBS in Mac book pro?
Narcogen said:. RTMP doesn't exist anymore? Or did the Hero 8 remove support for it? So the dude actually ended up posting the other half of the video, I just watched it but I don't have time to test it, lemme know if this helps anybody. How do you feel about the application gopro2obs?
Has anyone investigated how it works and can you trust him?I include 5 methods, plus answer some common questions. First off, I recommend you check out our guide to connecting a GoPro to a computer. It covers the basic methods with a card reader and USB cable. Simple fix, right? So, is your camera on? The camera requires power to display and transfer photos and videos to your computer. They come in 3, 6, and 10 foot lengths. USB-C is a pretty common cable — powering lots of other devices including many phones.
It might be worth checking for a spare cable so you can get your images uploaded today. But sometimes these ports — especially on older gear — can be a little temperamental.
Just move the USB A cable to another port and try again. If there is a problem with your camera or USB, this method should work — because it bypasses both of them.
This can be a result of some of the problems we covered earlier in the post. This will bypass your camera and USB cable and help you identify if that is the problem.
The problem could be related to a technical issue — maybe a damaged USB port on your camera or on the computer. To troubleshoot this, you could try plugging the USB cable into another port on your computer. Or try another USB cable. But to access your photos quickly, I recommend removing the memory card and using either a card reader or adapter. Now you can insert this into your computer and access your files immediately.
Hopefully this has fixed your problem and now your GoPro is showing up on your computer. What was the problem for you? I would love to hear what worked. Join me below! GoPro cameras are one of the best 4K video cameras for vloggers.I have to say that the video quality is really awesome. However, the playback things have bothered me a lot, because I often encounter a lagging problem when playing those high-definition GoPro videos on my Windows 10 based DELL.
I tried using my MacBook Pro to watch and process them. Unfortunately, it's even worse with more lags. Well, if you have the same GoPro Hero 7 or Hero 8 videos lagging, stuttering, chopping, not playing or skipping frames problems on a player or editor software with me, let's get together to have a look at possible reasons below.
If you are fed up with the overhaul stuff and are sure of the playback issue is caused by your poor computer configuration, you can do a quick fix with VideoProc right away. A 1-min 4K 60fps GoPro video with ProTune on eats over MB memory, imagine how big file size it will be when recording a complete sports journey like boating, surfing and such. Editing huge GoPro video files should take a large amount of system resources and as the GoPro video data increases, so does the importance of a fast CPU and enough memory space.
If any of them lags behind, your GoPro video will look lagging and choppy. A beefy machine is highly recommended to build for deep GoPro players. As mentioned above, VideoProc gives all-around solutions for different GoPro video sources that are lagging on player or editor.
Please follow the steps below to fix the annoying playback error right away on your Windows or macOS computer. Open up VideoProc and click "Video" button to pop up a video processing panel. Drag and drop is also available here. VideoProc provides several ways to fix GoPro video lagging playback or editing. You can take one or more methods listed below according to your actual situation.
If your hardware or software is weak to deal with 4K which you don't need to play on 4K monitor, you are suggested to downscale video from 4K to p or so after clicking "Codec Option". You are also free to decrease bit rate and frame rate to reduce file size. So if you are to upload it online, you can reduce its value a little bit to cater for sites like YouTube.
Click "RUN" to start transcoding or compression. VideoProc would enjoy a high processing speed by using hardware acceleration automatically when it's available. Cache setting is the most typical one. You have to know that when the video playback speed exceeds that of video decoding, source GoPro videos will be lagging and choppy.
And when the video processing and playback speed doesn't match that of its audio file, you will see video pictures lag behind the audio. Taking VLC, PR for instance, if video lags when their cache is defined in a high value, sayyou can try to lower it to to see if there's any change on frame skipping.
Speak of video editing tools like PR and Vegas, proxy ingest is worth a try to transcode large GoPro video before editing. Transcoding is an universal workaround when software fails to address some video codecs like HEVC.But after I discovered this little trick, I wanted to share it with you.
This setup is perfect for staying in touch with friends and family. Why do I need a video converter? This converts the HDMI output from the camera into a usable webcam input. You can also direct connect to the USB port on your computer. If you are going to make a quick call under 1 hour a fully charged battery should do the trick. This is simple and pretty important. Out of the box, GoPro cameras are just tiny rectangles.
Because of their light weight, they become pretty tippy once you add a couple of cables to the side. This is easily fixed with a simple tripod or other mount. Here are my three favorite camera mounts for setting up the point of view:.
The features you should look for in your mount include: stability and flexibility. I really like buying POV mounts that work in multiple settings. It is a rock solid mount. Here are a few more options for GoPro tripods on GudGear. Here are the settings and specs needed to allow your GoPro to stream video and audio as a webcam. As mentioned, this setup requires a micro HDMI output port on the camera.
Unfortunately, no. This is the standard resolution with traditional webcams. If the application requires that high of resolution 2.
